Bharat Interface for Mobile (BHIM) becomes most Popular Android app in 2017 :

Union Government’s online payments app Bharat Interface for Mobile (BHIM) has become the most popular Android app in India. The Aadhaar-based payments app has topped the charts on Google’s Play Store in India. Since the launch the app was downloaded in 3 million times and over 5 lakh transactions have took place since then. Presently, this app is only available for Android smartphones and soon will be available for iOS.

Election Commission announces dates for assembly elections in 5 states [Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur & Goa]:

  • GOA [40 seats]=    4th Feb 2017
  • UK [70 seats]=    15th Feb 2017
  • Punjab [117 seats]=    4th Feb 2017

In UP, elections will be held in 7 phases for 403 seats in total   –   11th Feb,    15th Feb,    19th Feb,    23rd Feb,    27th Feb,    27th Feb,    4th March    &    8th March.

Manipur: The Elections will be held in two phases for 60 seats in total on 4th & oth March 2017.

Government launches Swachh Bharat Survekshan 2017 for 500 cities:

The Union Ministry of Urban Development launched Swachh Survekshan 2017 to rank 500 cities/towns across the country on cleanliness with a population of 1 lakh and above. The survey will be conducted by Quality Council of India (QCI) under the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan in a bid to encourage competition to improve sanitation.
Google launches My Business and Digital Unlocked tool for small and medium businesses:

Internet giant Google launched two new initiatives My Business and Digital Unlocked to train and help small and medium businesses (SMBs) in India capitalise on the digitisation wave faster. These initiatives were launched by Google CEO Sundar Pichai in New Delhi in presence of Union IT and law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in New Delhi.

350th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh celebrated across country:

The 350th birth anniversary of the 10th and last Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh was celebrated across the country. The main function Prakash Parva was held at Takht Harmandar Sahib in Patna and was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Guru Gobind Singh was the last Human Sikh Guru. He was born in Patna on December 22, 1666. He became Guru at the age of 9 years. He died on October 7, 1708 in Nanded, Maharashtra.
